Upset in boxing, Ishida KOs Kirkland in First Round
It was the first time in his professional career that he had tasted defeat and the heavy favorite had never expected to be so thoroughly thrashed. Ishida (23-6-2, 8 KOs), who had only seven knockouts to his credit entering the contest, looked like Sonny Liston against Floyd Patterson. The low-key Japanese contender had figured to be cannon fodder for Kirkland, but he said afterward that he expected Kirkland to disrespect his power and threw caution to the wind, hoping to catch him coming in.
Anything goes in boxing, undefeated or not, any one is vulnerable. Its a big break for Ishida, he is wanted by some boxer to fight with him in the ring. Hope to see him again in the ring.
